le piramidi nubiane si riferescono principalmente al periodo di meroe 300 bc ... 300 ad e sono delle tombe di re regine ed altri dignitari

le piramidi sono appuntite e sotto le quali si trova la camera funeraria a cui si accede scendendo una scala che in tutti i casi tranne uno è stata ricoperta ... e questo per evitare lo scempio delle preziose pareti affrescate allo stile egiziano ...da cui la civiltà nubiana è stata profondamente influenzata

... infatti la sola aperta presentava la metà inferiore delle pareti completamente rovinata da una recente inondazione del nilo 

praticamente tutte le piramidi sono state violate e capitozzate alla ricerca di tesori nascosti ... pratica tristemente introdotta dal signor ferlini un archeologo italiano  bolognese che sostenne aver trovato un tesoro proprio sulla punta della prima piramide 'studiata' ... la numero 6 del sito di meroe

E DI CUI TUTTI I NUBIANI CHE SI RISPETTANO VANNO naturalmente MOLTO FIERI ....in questo periodo il faraone nubiano taharca ha costruito un chiostro addirittura nel tempio di karnak a luxor ........

.... da metema siamo passati in sudan e proseguito a khartoum con la nostra guida  locale

va detto innanzitutto che se non conoscete l'arabo e le zone, NON è assolutamente possibile visitare i principali siti archeologici e tantomeno campeggiare in luoghi sicuri nel deserto ... quindi dimenticatevi del selfsafari ed affidatevi ad una guida esperta ...

nonostante i recendi avvenimenti, per fortuna non abbiamo incontrato nessun ostacolo in termini di sicurezza durante i 15 giorni di viaggio ... le autorità locali erano anzi molto contente di rivedere turisti dopo 2 anni di covid e la rivoluzione e successivo colpo di stato dei militari 

il sudan resta una colonia dei paesi arabi più potenti come arabia saudita, egitto ed altri del golfo che da sempre hanno promosso una insensata politica di arabizzazione, imposizione della legge ismamica a popolazioni non islamiche (ancora vigente purtroppo ... dimenticatevi della birretta gelata di fine giornata) con il risultato che hanno perso il 75% delle resorse petrolifere che sono andate al sud-sudan, hanno scatenato guerriglie ancora attive (vedi darfur) ed hanno letteralmente rovinato l'economia del paese...un vero disastro che si percepisce con l'assoluta mancanza di capacità di governo locale, gestione dei rifiuti (nessuno li raccogli più) e dei siti archeologici .........

la situazione attuale è che le potenze arabe mal vedono la nascita di una democrazia in sudan (esperienza che metterebbe in discussione i loro sistemi autoritari) e quindi continuano a finanziare i militari al potere su politiche arabizzanti mal sopportate dalla popolazione soprattutto urbana

con ciò si capisce come una popolazione a maggioranza sufi (notoriamente con un approccio all'islam molto flessibile e spirituale) si sia fatta e si sta facendo dominare da una minoranza bigotta sunni che notoriamente hanno scarsissima capacità di mediazione sociale (come, in effetti, quasi tutte le società arabe) 

detto ciò va detto che i sufi-sudanesi e i nubiani sono persone deliziose, aperte e molto simpatiche 

il nostri itinerario ci ha portato a scoprire le radici della cultura sudanese e soprattutto nubiana dalle origini della civiltà di kerma (3.550 bc) all'invasione egiziana del 1500 alla nascita e caduta della 25sima dinastia egiziana nubiana (i famosi faraoni neri) ... la civiltà nubiana di meroe (300 bc - 300 ad) sino ai regni cristiani e la completa islamizzazione nel 1300 .... a karthoum abbimo anche potuto apprezzare le danze sufi ...

le notti nel deserto sono spettacolari, tra le migliori segnalo il cratere - lago di atrum

il caffè sudanese è buonissimo sia nella versione con cardamono che con ginger ....o con tutte e due assieme ... il migliore tra tutti i paesi visitati ...... le donne che lo preparano per strada sono delle istituzioni ... dei punti di riferimento per tutti 

il sudan è un paese assolutamente affascinante, mi ha grandemente sorpreso la scoperta della cultura nubiana dall'antichità al sudan ed egitto attuali ... un paese da non perdere !!!

first of all it must be said that if you do not know Arabic and the country, it is absolutely NOT possible to visit the main archaeological sites and even less to camp in safe places in the desert ... so forget about the self-safari and rely on an expert guide ... 

despite the recent events, luckily we did not encounter any obstacles in terms of safety during the 15 days of travel ... the local authorities were indeed very happy to see tourists again after 2 years of covid and the revolution and subsequent military coup 

... Sudan remains a colony of the most powerful Arab countries such as Saudi Arabia, Egypt and others in the Gulf that have always promoted a senseless policy of Arabization, the imposition of Islamic law on non-Islamic populations (unfortunately still in force ... forget about the frozen beer of end of the day) with the result that they lost 75% of the oil resources that went to south-sudan, unleashed guerrillas that are still active (see darfur) and literally ruined the country's economy ... a real disaster that can be perceived with the absolute lack of local government capacity, waste management (no one collects them anymore) and archaeological sites ......... 

the current situation is that the Arab powers do not want the birth of a democracy in Sudan (an experience that would put their authoritarian systems into question) and therefore continue to finance the military in power on Arabizing policies that are badly tolerated by the population .. especially in urban areas

therefore, we understand how a majority Sufi population (notoriously with a very flexible and spiritual approach to Islam) is being dominated by a bigoted Sunni minority who notoriously have very little capacity for social mediation (as, in fact, almost all Arab societies) 

having said that it must be said that the Sufi-Sudanese and the Nubians are delightful, open and very nice people 

our itinerary led us to discover the roots of the Sudanese and above all Nubian culture from the origins of the kerma civilization (3,550 bc) to the Egyptian invasion of 1500 to the birth and fall of the 25th dynasty of Egypt (the famous black pharaohs) ... the Nubian civilization of meroe (300 BC - 300 AD) up to the Christian kingdoms and the complete Islamization in 1300 .... in karthoum we were also able to appreciate Sufi dances ... 

the nights in the desert are spectacular, among the best I point out the crater - lake of atrum 

the coffee is the best of all the countries visited so far ... the women that sell it are true social focal points of the streets ...

Sudan is an absolutely fascinating country, I was greatly surprised by the discovery of the Nubian culture from ancient times to the present days in Sudan and in Egypt ... a country not to be missed !!!

dopo 2 anni di covid ed il conflitto in tigrai tutte le attrazioni turistiche visitabili sono in grande sofferenza 

il paese è in una situazione di profonda crisi in termini di accesso ai servizi di base e cibo ... almeno il 20 % (WFP 2022: 20.400.000 persone che necessitano di assistenza alimentare) della popolazione riceve regolarmente aiuti alimentari pagati dalle NU e gli USA, nel 2019, in Ethiopia, 37% dei bambili sotto i 5 anni soffrono di nanismo dovuto a sottonutrizione. 

LA GESTIONE DELLA RACCOLTA DEI RIFIUTI E' INESISTENTE  ...le persone in città e paesi vivono letteralmente tra le immondizie 

 e questa situazione non è certamente dovuta ai recenti avvenimenti ma è il frutto di disastrose politiche del passato e del presente 

nonostante ciò, gli etiopi pensano avere una marcia in più degli altri paesi africani ... affermano di non essere stati mai colonizzati ... ma in realtà non è vero ... hanno perso una guerra sanguinosissima (circa 70.000 morti senza contare i feriti contro non più di 10.000 tra italiani e ascari) contro gli italiani nel 1936 ... va detto che non contenti della totale superiorità aerea i fascisti hanno anche fatto uso massiccio di gas ... un'arma che era al tempo già bandita internazionalmente ...  ed hanno subito un breve periodo coloniale sino al 1941...considerano gli altri paesi africani come decisamente inferiori e neocolonizzati ...ma in realtà TUTTI i paesi sino ad ora visitati in africa presentano condizioni socioeconomiche generalmente migliori ed infrastrutture MOLTO più moderne

decine di milioni di persone vivono in povertà e chiedono continuamente cibo o mendicano per le strade ...QUINDI PREPARATEVI 

a livello statale anche e soprattutto chiedono aiuti ai numerosi donanti internazionali ... il 50% del budget annuale è finanziato con risorse esterne ed il funzionamento del settore salute dipente dalla cooperazione internazionale per l'85% del budget settoriale !!! ma sorprendentemente la narrativa ufficiale è decisamente  ostile ai paesi occidentali ... soprattutto gli USA ...e adesso preferiscono mendicare donazioni e prestiti a cina russia ecc ecc che non chiedono condizionalità in termini di buon governo democrazia e diritti umani

detto ciò ... se viaggiate in macchina molti dei siti turistici sono accessibili con l eccezione del tigrai e dell'afar...ma va sempre controllata la situazione, 1 settimana fa la guerra è ricominciata al confine con il tigrai (città di kobo) e quindi la via per lalibela non è più sicura .....!!!

consiglio vivamente dedicare non più di un giono nella capitale, contaminatissima, sporchissima, gremita di popolazione indigente e disperata ...la peggiore delle capitali africane che conosco ... e le conosco quasi tutte ...mi ricorda i peggiori quartieri di daka o kalcutta....)

dopo le tribu del sud abbiamo visitato shashamene ... lalibela ...vedi i post specifici... e gondar ... ultima tappa prima della frontiera con il sudan

gondar è sede di un bellissimo complesso di castelli di pietra della dinastia dei re salomonici ed ha una piazza in stile italiano dei tempi della colonia con un caffè praticamente identico a come è stato lasciato dalle ultime truppe coloniali italiane nel paese

la guarnigione di gondar infatti è stata l'ultima a resistere contro l'esercito alleato nel 1941 ... ma sapevate che vari gruppi di unità italiane hanno continuato a combattere gli inglesi con azioni di guerriglia sino al 1943?

if you travel by car many of the tourist sites are accessible with the exception of the tigray and afar ... I highly recommend spending no more than a day in the capital, very contaminated, very dirty, full of destitute and desperate population ... the worst of the African capitals I know ... and I know almost all of them ... it reminds me of the worst districts of daka or kalcutta ....

 .... da addis ababa (una città possibilmente da evitare) siamo andati a lalibela, la famosissima città sacra per i cristiani ortodossi etiopi con le 12 chiese di roccia monolitica  .... bellissima e con grande energia positiva

abbiamo avuto la fortuna di coincidere con la celebrazione dell'angelo gabriele ... spettacolare

ogni chiesa ha il suo fascino quindi consiglio vivanente vederle tutte !!! e con una guida professionale ... noi siamo capitati con tadesse tel +251 913861366  e referenziato da amici residenti in etiopia ... molto competente ed essenziale se vi capita una celebrazione importante

io ho apprezzato molto i dettagli interni delle chiese e i devoti che pregano e leggono salmi anche all'esterno  di fronte i muri senza preoccuparsi di cosa accade attorno ...

gli 800 preti di lalibela sono assolutamente disponibili accoglienti e si fanno fotografare volentieri ... forse anche perchè una parte del biglietto d'ingresso contribuisce alla manutenzione delle chiese ed anche al loro manteninento!

....la differenza tra la chiesa cattolica ed ortodossa ... tra cui quella etiope ... è che l'ortodossa è monofisista, non riconosce cioè la piena dualità divina e carnale di cristo ma ne asserta la prevalenza della prima a detrimento della carne ... (non riconosce le posizioni dottrinali cattoliche romane del concilio di calcedonia tenutosi nel 451 DC), tale differenza radica nelle diverse concezioni della materia e della carne di due culture già radicalmente diverse ai tempi dell'impero romano e che porterà allo scisma ortodosso e a distinte direzioni di sviluppo sociale e tecnologico ... il pieno riconoscimento della carne ... la materia ... divina certo ma con valore a se stante e quindi studiabile a gettato, a mio avviso, le basi per lo sviluppo tecnonogico dell'occidente ... io non sono cristiano ma ogni pasqua è l'occasione per ricordarmi i benefici della grande rivoluzione cristiana ... le cui conseguenze hanno poi portato nel lungo termine all'irrimediabile decadenza della stessa 

questo non significa che i cristiani etiopi non credano nella trinità ... annzi! le migliori chiese anche a lalibela sono a lei dedicate così come all'angelo gabriele ........

lalibela in luglio 2022 è una città che vive ancora di turismo ma messa in ginocchio da 2 anni di covid e 1 anno di guerra con incluso un periodo d'occupazione delle forze armate tigrine... molti hotel hanno chiuso o sono stati saccheggiati dai militari tigrini ... vi sono solo 3 h di elettricità e conseguente scarsità d'acqua ... in altre parole prima di andare va verificato quali hotel sono ancora attivi e la situazione dei servizi essenziali

se non avete una 4x4 prendete SOLO LA STRADA ASFALTATA! e non la 'scorciatoia' fuoristrada che si prende a destra sulla B22 al km 41 da weldiya circa che va da direttamente a lalibela passando per villaggi remoti e paesaggi rurali bellissimi ma impossibile senza 4x4 e solida esperienza in guadi

 .... from addis ababa (a city possibly to be avoided) we went to lalibela, the very famous sacred city for Ethiopian Orthodox Christians with 12 monolithic rock churches .... beautiful and with great positive energy ...  

we were lucky enough to coincide with the celebration of the angel gabriel ... spectacular!!!

every church has its own charm so I strongly recommend  to see them all !!! and with a professional guide ... we came with tadesse tel +251 913861366 and referenced by friends residing in ethiopia ... very competent and essential if you happen to have an important celebration 

I really appreciated the internal details of the churches and the devotees who pray and read psalms even outside in front of the walls without worrying about what happens around ... 

the 800 priests of lalibela are absolutely welcoming and willing to be photographed ... perhaps also because part of the entrance ticket contributes to the maintenance of the churches and also to their maintenance! .... 

the difference between the Catholic and Orthodox Church ... including the Ethiopian one ... is that the Orthodox is monophysist, that is, it does not recognize the full divine and carnal duality of Christ but asserts the prevalence of the former to the detriment of the flesh ... (does not recognize the Roman Catholic doctrinal positions of the council of chalcedon held in 451 AD),

va subito detto che il movimento rasta non è come comunemente percepito un branco di disadattati capelloni e fumatori di marjuana ...ma un gruppo di persone profondamente religiose ... credono fermamente nel vecchio e nuovo testamento e lo praticano nella vita comune e corrente ... non seguono nessuna chiesa cristiana e quindi interpretano la lettura della bibbia in modo diretto e non mediato da interpretazioni istituzionali ... come per esempio fanno i cattolici .... e soprattutto credono che l'ultimo imperatore salomonico etiope hailes selassie ... il negus ... sia la seconda apparizione di jesù cristo sulla terra ... in altre parole un jesù versione nera ... 

dopo essere stato edotto sulla natura del movimento rasta da alex e sandrine due rastafari francesi che vivono a shashamene da ben 17 anni sono andato in pellegrinaggio a visitare il  letto di jesus II al museo etnologico di addis e la sua tomba alla famosa chiesa della santissima trinità sempre nella capitale

.... va detto che i rasta sono convinti che il negus non è morto e che la tomba è un fake ....

se andate a shashamane potete sostare nella guesthouse di alex e sandrine ... zion train lodge ...vedere commenti su app !overlanding.. track4africa e lonely planet..... ottimo bungalow e cucina anche veggy di sandrine a prezzi veramente ragionevoli ! un'oasi di vera pace nel mezzo di una città caotica ... come lo sono tutte in etiopia 

a proposito del negus mi sono ricordato di una frase si una canzoncina fascista ... adesso so blasfema ... che mi insegnò mia nonna e che si riferiva all'avventura coloniale italiana in etiopia .. di breve durata dal 1936 vittoria militare italiana sulle truppe del negus ... al 1941 conquista delle forze alleate britanniche  ... va detto che gli etiopi sono convinti di non essere mai stati colonizzati ... ha ha ha

they do not follow any Christian church and therefore they interpret the reading of the bible in a direct way and not mediated by institutional interpretations ... as for example Catholics do .... and above all they believe that the last Ethiopian Solomonic emperor hailes selassie .. . the negus ... is the second apparition of jesus christ on earth ... in other words a jesus in black version ... 

 

we were informed about the nature of the rasta movement by alex and sandrine two french rastafari who have been living in shashamene for 17 years 

 

in addis ababa  went on a pilgrimage to visit the bed of jesus II at the ethnological museum of addis and his tomb at the famous church of the holy trinity always in the capital .... it must be said that the Rastas are convinced that the negus is not dead and that the tomb is a fake .... 

 

if you go to shashamane you can stop in alex and sandrine's guesthouse ... zion train lodge ... see comments on app !overlanding .. track4africa and lonely planet ..... great bungalow and sandrine's veggy cuisine at really reasonable prices !
