KALAHARI ! deserto del kalahari ! / kalahari desert !

 siamo appena usciti da 3 giorni nel deserto del kalahari 

direi che la macchina ha sopportato benissimo le 'extreme deep sand' piste che ci spaventavano molto durante la preparazione del safari ... gli autisti sono naturalmente all'altezza della situazione (le prime piste sabbiose le ho provate nelle dune del nord senegal nel lontano 1987 quando aiutavo i produttori locali a coltivare cipolle rosse tra le dune di POTOU della costa nord, 60 km a sud di saint  louis ... ed è come saper nuotare)

molti animali, i soliti elefanti, bambi di tutti i tipi (cioè abbondante cibo per leoni) , sciacalli, gnu (vedi foto sotto a sinistra dopo teschi di elefante)  ma non i tanto pubblicizzati leoni ! :::((( ... solo orme fresche  vicino a una pozza d'acqua (vedi foto) ... mei ke nient !

 we just got out of 3 days in the kalahari desert  

I would say that the car has endured very well the 'extreme deep sand' tracks that scared us a lot during the preparation of the safari ... the drivers are naturally up to the situation (I tried the first sandy tracks in the dunes of north senegal in the distant 1987 when I helped local producers to grow red onions in the POTOU dunes of the north coast, 60 km south of saint louis ...)  

many animals, the usual elephants, bambi of all kinds (ie abundant food for lions), jackals, wildebeest (see photo below left after elephant skulls) but not the much advertised lions! ::: (((... only fresh tracks near a puddle of water (see photo) ... better than nothing!

le condizioni del camping sono piuttosto basiche : NO acqua (ma noi abbiamo un serbatoio di 100 lt sotto la toyota) - NO toilette quindi bisogna scavare un bel buco con la vanghetta pieghevole (quella dei dei boyscout per interderci) a non più di 3 mt dalla macchina (le bestie feroci sono sempre li che aspettano carne bianca) - fuoco per allontanarle 

la gestione del parco non è delle migliori, le pompe d'acqua solari per alimentare gli animali sono tutte rotte (distrutte dagli elefanti dicono i ranger), l'informazione sulla fruizione è nulla, la segnaletica diciamo problematica ... vedi foto sopra a destra --- insomma hanno molto da fare per raggiungere standard accettabili (e per i quali abbiamo pagato profumatamente) 

 la gestione dei campsite del kalahari che abbiamo riservato (se non hai riservagto un campsite non puoi entrare) è pubblica (in quelli privati non c'era posto - e doppom abbiamo capito anche il perchè !) ... i rangers passano il tempo con il telefonino in mano ... sono certissimo che se si rompe il wifi lo riparano a tempo record !

 the conditions of the camping are quite basic: NO water (but we have a tank of 100 liters under the toyota) - NO toilet so you have to dig a nice hole with the folding spade (that of the boyscout to interdict us) no more than 3 meters from the car (wild beasts are always there waiting for white meat) - fire to drive them away 

the management of the park is not the best, the solar water pumps to feed the animals are all broken (destroyed by the elephants, the rangers say), the information on the use is null, the signage we say problematic ... see photo above a right --- well they have a lot to do to reach acceptable standards (and for which we paid a lot) the management of the kalahari campsites that we have reserved (if you have not reserved a campsite you cannot enter) is public (in the private ones there was no place)  ... 

the rangers spend time with mobile phone in hand ... I am absolutely sure that if the wifi breaks, they will fix it in record time
