dopo SPITZKOPPE il prossimo posto è la phillip's cave (PONDOKS) - la cave si trova a circa 1 ora di cammino dal camping (ameib guestfarm - vedi pagina) - da visitare anche la il posto chiamato 'elephant head'
è impressionante notare come il granito si frattura in grossi pezzi prima di soccombere alla sgranolatura delle intemperie - il granito è composto da numerosissimi cristalli di quarzo di differente grandezza e composizione e quindi con diversi gradi di espansione quando scaldati dal sole ... il risultato è che letteralmente si sgretola ......
appena fuori dalla cava, grattando la terra, ho trovato delle pietre lavorate dai SAN almeno 1.000 anni fa !!!! (vedi foto) ... queste pietre sono completamente diverse dal granito e quindi portate alla cava e lavorate dagli antichi abitanti della zona dell'età della pietra (vedi ultima foto !)

after SPITZKOPPE, the next place is phillip's cave (PONDOKS) - the cave is about 1 hour walk from the campsite (ameib guestfarm - see page) - the place called 'elephant head' is also worth a visit
It is impressive to note how granite fractures into large pieces before succumbing to the crumbling of the elements - granite is made up of numerous quartz crystals of different sizes and compositions and, therefore, with different degrees of expansion when heated by the sun ... the result is that literally crumbles ...
just outside the cave, scratching the earth, I found some stones worked by the SANs at least 1,000 years ago !!!! (see photo) ... these stones are completely different from granite and therefore brought to the quarry and worked by the ancient inhabitants of the Stone Age area (see last picture !)
