dopo  160 gg di viaggio da cape town ad alessandria, 30.000 km percorsi innumerevoli emozioni e milioni di zebre a striscie bianche e nere !!!

ecco il percorso effettuato dalla toyota

back to europe!  

after 160 days of travel from Cape Town to Alexandria, 30,000 km covered countless emotions and millions of black and white striped zebras !!! 

 here is the itinerary

da lessandria siamo approdati al porto di derince in turkia (tra istambul e izmit, l'antica nicomedia tanto per intenderci meglio) ... 

la toyota è stata inviata da alessandria con un RO-LO (ferry che trasporta solo macchine ma non passengeri) mentre noi abbiamo volato e sdoganato la toyota in turkia grazie anche all'eccellente lavoro dell'agenzia di Hevren (WRL worldwide RO-LO shipping corporation) che ha sbrigato le pratiche in solamente mezza giornata ! 

nell'attesa abbiamo visitato  le località balneari di kerpe sul mar nero e mudanya nel mar di marmara (dove potrete comperare dell'ottimo green olive oil - olio prodotto dalla raccolta prematura delle olive che ha un sapore particolare e buonissimo soprattutto sulle insalate - dalle imprese agricole locali)

poi in grecia e da igoumenitza abbiamo raggiunto brindisi e poi su a nord a bologna dalla mia giulietta ... (....giuro giuro giuro che non la lascierò più sola per così tanto tempo !!!! 😍)

a ostuni abbiamo sostato nel meraviglioso trullo della mia amica raffaella (andate a vedere il sito www.trullodiraffa.it) un posto magico che ci ha veramente aiutato a superare lo shok del ritorno (non avremo mica preso il mal d'africa !!!??? 😨😱😱)

sempre a ostuni abbiamo potuto partecipare alle ormai famosissime degustazioni della cooperativa locale da dove si esce sempre abbastanza ubriachi e carichi di vini delle migliori aziende vinicole pugliesi (dopo aver giurato di non com

perarne più!) ... le degustazioni sono condotte direttamente dai  veri proprietari disponibili a rispondere a tutte le vostre domande sui vini in vendita ....e intanto voi bevete bevete e comperate bottiglie su bottiglie .... 

a manduria, prima di partire per bologna abbiamo visitato l'azienda attanasio (primitivo di manduria) che per  noi è un vero punto fermo del primitivo 

la sera siamo finalmente andati al ristoranti locali - in puglia si mangia benissimo - e con buona pace della cucina africana - come ho chiaramente spiegato in moi post del 29 aprile  il contributo dell'africa alla civiltà è su ben altri piani ... ed in italia siamo decisamente su un'altro continente !

 from lexandria we landed at the port of derince in turkia (between istambul and izmit, the ancient nicomedia, so to speak better) 

... the toyota was sent from alessandria with a RO-LO (ferry that transports only cars but not passengers) while we flew and cleared the toyota in turkia thanks also to the excellent work of the Hevren agency (WRL worldwide RO-LO shipping corporation) who completed the paperwork in just half a day! 

while we waited we visited the seaside resorts of kerpe on the black sea and mudanya in the marmara sea (where you can buy excellent green olive oil - oil produced from the premature harvest of olives that has a particular and very good taste especially on salads - from companies local farms) 

then in greece and from igoumenitza we reached brindisi and then up north to bologna to my juliet ... (.... I swear I swear that I will never leave her alone for so long !!!! 😍) 

in ostuni we stopped in the wonderful trullo of my friend raffaella (go and see the website www.trullodiraffa.it) a magical place that really helped us to overcome the shock of the return (we will not have gotten sick of africa !!! ??? 😨😱😱) 

always in ostuni we were able to participate in the now very famous wine tastings of the local cooperative from where you always come out quite drunk and loaded with wines from the best Apulian wineries (after having sworn not to com perarne more!) ...

 the tastings are conducted directly by the real owners willing to answer all your questions about the wines on sale .... and in the meantime you drink, drink and buy bottles after bottles .... 

in manduria, before leaving for bologna we visited the attanasio company (primitivo di manduria) which for us is a true staple of the primitivo in the evening we finally went to local restaurants - in Puglia you eat very well - and with all due respect to African cuisine - as I clearly explained in my post on 29 april  the contribution of Africa to civilization is on very different levels ... and in Italy we are definitely on another continent!

el alamein battle

... in angola abbiamo visitato il luogo della battaglia di cuito cannavale ... vedi post del 17 maggio...la più importante in termini di uomini e mezzi dopo quella di el alamein ... combattutta nel 1942 a 100 km ovest di alessandria e conclusasi con la sconfitta delle forze italiane e tedesche contro quelle alleate ....

prima di arrivare al alessandria per imbarcare la nave in turchia abbiamo quindi visitato il luogo della battaglia ... più precisamente la città di el alamein ... ora diventata una foresta di orribili grattaceli per vacanze e resort esclusivi ... altrettanto orribili ... lungo la costa ...

tra un resort e l'altro si trovano i vari cimiteri di guerra italiano tedesco greco inglese ed ex colonie ascari italiani ecc una vera ecatombe ... noi abbiamo visitato quello italiano e tedesco 

va detto che gli ossari contengono solo una piccola parte dei caduti ... infatti restano ancora insepolti nel deserto almeno altri 32.000 soldati di tutte le nazionalità ... la zona è ancora troppo pericolosa per i campi minati e l'enorme estensione del campo di battaglia in zone remote che solo i beduini oggi percorrono ancora  in cerca di residuati bellici da vendere ai collezionisti ... che invidia! in giovanissima età anch'io ero un collezionista di residuati bellici della II guerra mondiale

esiste un museo internazionale nuovo che sembra una passerella di uniformi e armi delle differenti armate belligeranti ma che non spiega niente di come si è svolta la battaglia ...

mentre il museo dell'ossario italiano é molto più interessante in quanto viene presentato il contesto e le dinamiche principali degli avvenimenti ... oltre che residuati bellici raccolti sul campo di battaglia ... PECCATO CHE TUTTO SIA SCRITTO IN ITALIANO ! UNA VERGOGNA 

la sconfitta di el alamein ha segnato la svolta delle operazioni militari sino alla totale capitolazione delle forze dell'asse nel 1943 che ha aperto la via all'invasione della sicilia ...nello stesso anno ... e alla resa italiana dopo il rapidissimo collasso del nostro esercito nell'isola ... 

ad el alamein le truppe italiane hanno combattutto ferocemente nonostante disponessero di armamento inferiore ... il tentativo di sfondamento sul fronte sud difeso dalla divisione folgore che avrebbe permesso l'accerchiamento delle linee dell'asse fu pianificato anche sulla base dell'ipotesi che le truppe italiane fossero il punto debole dello schema difensivo ... e si sono sbagliati alla grande ....molti   corpi dei poveretti delle divisioni britanniche francesi e greche che hanno ripetutamente attaccato le posizioni italiane sono ancora la che aspettano di essere sepolti ...

Along the coast ... between one resort and another there are various war cemeteries Italian German Greek English and former Italian ascari colonies etc. a real massacre ...

 

 we visited the Italian and German ... is to be said that the ossuaries contain only a small part of the casualities ... in fact, at least 32,000 other soldiers of all nationalities still remain unburied in the desert 

 

... the area is still too dangerous for minefields and the enormous extension of the field of battle in remote areas that only the Bedouins today still travel in search of war remnants to sell to collectors ... what envy! At a very young age, I too was a collector of war remnants from World War II 

 

... there is a new international museum that looks like a walkway of uniforms and weapons of the different warring armies but that does not explain anything about how the battle took place ... 

 

instead ... the museum of the Italian ossuary is much more interesting as it presents the context and the main dynamics of the events ... as well as war remnants collected on the battlefield ... A PITY that EVERYTHING IS WRITTEN ONLY IN ITALIAN! really a SHAME

.... le vetrine del cairo e soprattutto nei mercati coperti ... vedi l'immenso khan el-khalili ... si vendono numerosissimi vestitini procaci ... vedi foto ... MA la cosa che mi ha veramente sorpreso è che le acquirenti sono tutte donne con burca nero!

pie suorine nelle strade e sfrenate odalische tra le mura di casa ! 😂😂😂

sembra che così piaccia ai maschi egiziani ...chissà se anche alle donne

ho cercato di regalare alla fidanzata un completino da odalisca per farmi fare balletti osé ... ma non ci sono riuscito 😢

 pious nuns in the streets and wild odalisques within the walls of the house! 😂😂😂 it seems that Egyptian males like it so much ... I wonder if also women like this ....

 I proposed my girlfriend an odalisque outfit to perform some sexy and lavish ballets (only for me) ... but she categorically refused 😢

egypt and the white desert

... altra esperienza assolutamente da fare è la visita al white desert partendo dall'oasi di baharya .. 

... se ve lo potete permettere affittate una 4x4 e con una guida esperta imparate a guidare tra le dune ... e fate campeggio libero nel deserto bianco ... (nota: portare una macchina 4x4 in egitto è un'impresa costosissima in termini di tempo e denaro, da non fare !)

noi abbiamo usato la nostra toyota e ingaggiato una guida esperta che ci ha accompagnato con la sua toyota personale ... sempre land cruiser ... ma del 1975 !

... another must-do experience is a visit to the white desert starting from the baharya oasis .. ... 

 

if you can afford it, rent a 4x4 and with an expert guide learn to drive in the dunes ... and go camping free in the white desert ... (to bring a 4x4 in egypt is very costly in terms of time and money ! forget about that ...) 

 

we used our toyota and hired an expert guide who accompanied us with his personal toyota ... also land cruiser ... but from 1975!
