Da sumbawanga, il katawi national park è uno dei migliori parchi nazionali ma senza praticamente turisti … sul fiume che attraversa il parco e paludi circostanti si possono vedere branchi di centinaia di bufali, decine di ippopotami, coccodrilli (andate all’IKUU bridge) e tantissime specie di uccelli …
Ci sono poi percorsi molto difficili per amanti del 4x4 dopo la laguna chiamata ‘paradise’ … noi ci siamo infossati 2 volte e, credetemi, non siamo dilettanti! Ma ce l’abbiamo fatta senza aiuto esterno (avremmo dovuto passare la notte li, poi camminare 10 km tra coccodrilli e leoni e forse trovare qualcuno capace di tirarci fuori …. un incubo)
nota dolente, la gestione dei campsite interni al parco è poverissima, le toilette sono sporchissime e senza acqua (costo 30 $ a persona!) - meglio scavare un buco vicino la macchina - il personale è molto scortese e non parla un inglese comprensibile
consiglio fortemente accamparsi fuori dal parco (river site park campsite)...

There are also very difficult routes for 4x4 lovers after the lagoon called 'paradicìse' ... we have buried ourselves twice and, believe me, we are not amateurs! But we did it without outside help (we should have spent the night there, then walk 10 km among crocodiles and lions and perhaps find someone capable of pulling us out .... a nightmare)
sore point, the management of the campsites inside the park is very poor, the toilets are very dirty and without water (cost $ 30 per person!) - better to dig a hole near the car - the staff are very rude and do not speak understandable English
I strongly recommend camping outside the park (river site park campsite).

Il Katavi ed il Ruaha NP sono tra i più belli e fortunatamente meno visitati da turisti ma solo da travellers...
